Mortal Kombat: Onslaught – Early Preview

By accident or not, Warner Brothers somehow managed to leak the game on the Play Store. Although briefly, many users were able to download Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, a title scheduled to launch in 2023. The game will be available for Android and iOS, and the gameplay is a combination of fighting with RPG elements. MK: Onslaught was pulled off the store pretty quickly, but I did manage to record few minutes of gameplay.

Mortal Kombat the roleplaying game?

Yes, the gameplay and the whole layout looks like Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. You assemble a team of 4 characters, and try to beat the stages. Your skill has 0 effect on this, sadly, since everything is on auto-battle. You can only control the special moves, or rather time them, but that’s about it. Everything is pretty much pre-decided, based on your attack/defense/skill numbers. If you fail to beat the stage, there will be no different outcome no matter how many times you try, until you do some upgrades.

Right now, there are two modes available. Single player story battles and Towers. The story starts with Skorpion, but I won’t reveal anything containing spoilers. The video is pretty much safe to watch.

You have couple of currencies that you collect in order to level up and summon new characters. Their rarity varies with up to 5 stars and all of them have equipment slots that you can fill. Weapons, outfits and other accessories can also be leveled up, or upgraded to a higher tier.

When will Mortal Kombat: Onslaught launch?

Although scheduled for 2023, this “mishap” might speed things up a bit. However, the game is clearly not finished yet. There are some graphical glitches, no voiceovers (except for the first scene) and most importantly, no in-app store. Now, we can’t have a top grossing game without an in-app store can we?

Pre-registrations are not open yet, but check out the links below as that might change soon.
