Street Fighter IV Champion Edition

Capcom’s latest game in the popular fighting franchise was released earlier today. Street Fighter IV Champion Edition offers a roster of 32 world warriors, fully supports bluetooth controllers and offers real time PvP. But there is a catch. Either Capcom messed up their press release, or the game is still in soft launch.

The game did appear on the Play Store, following the press release that stated “Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition Now Available For Android“. However, it seems that many users are having trouble downloading it due to “device compatibility” issues. This is not a region lock, or a soft-launch for that matter and there are no quoted system requirements anywhere, so we don’t really know whats going on.

Anyway, the game is available on the Play Store in form of a “Demo”. You can download it for free, but you only get one fighter (Ryu) and three AI controlled characters (Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief) to fight against. The rest is locked out behind a one time in-app purchase of $4.99.  After you unlock it, the rest 28 fighters will be instantly available and you can play against other users over WiFi or test your skill in the campaign. It goes without saying that Unique Attacks, Special Moves, Focus Attacks, Super Combos and Ultra Combos are at your disposal, including the one button SuperPower combo and four levels of difficulty.
