Tomb Raider (OpenLara) port for OnionOS released
Tomb Raider is now on OnionOS, thanks to a new OpenLara port for the Miyoo Mini Plus.
The port comes from Cacura Card Captors, the name used by the owner of the cacuracaptors GitHub account. The repository itself is called OpenLara-miyoomini, and it is a fork of XProger’s OpenLara engine.

This is not simply the PlayStation version running through an emulator. It uses the PC version of Tomb Raider and runs at the Miyoo Mini Plus native 640×480 resolution, with around 45 to 60 FPS and no overclock required. The software renderer was rebuilt to use both CPU cores, with perspective correct textures and precise geometry, so no familiar PS1 style texture warping and polygon wobble.
Controls have also been adapted for the MM+, including quick save and quick load shortcuts. Music and cutscene audio are supported too.
Installation is pretty simple. You need your own Tomb Raider game files (hint: abandonware, google), with the GOG version being the easiest option. Copy GAME.GOG and optionally the music files into the OpenLara folder, and the required game data is extracted automatically the first time you launch it. An original CD installation can also be used (if you still have the means).
Cacura Card Captors has been quite busy with OnionOS ports lately. The same GitHub account is also behind Fallout for Miyoo Mini Plus, Fallout 2, and 3D Pinball: Space Cadet. The developer also mentioned that all three have received updates recently, with Space Cadet finally getting music support.
For now, this release is for the original Tomb Raider from 1996. Tomb Raider 2 and 3 are not supported yet because OpenLara support for them is still incomplete, but they are planned for future updates.
