Pinball Fantasies on Android?

The classic 1992 Pinball Fantasies is now on Android, thanks to a new unofficial source port of the original DOS version.

The project, called Pinball Fantasies Android, is based on an unfinished decompilation of the game. The developer finished the missing work and ported it to Android, so this is NOT the DOS game running through an emulator (just to be clear).

Some useful extras are also added, such as proper main menu and pause menu.

Touch controls are supported and their size and opacity can be adjusted in game (yay). They are still considered work in progress, but they do work. Physical controllers are supported, with the shoulder buttons and triggers controlling the flippers, A used for selection and the plunger, Y for nudging and Start opening the menu (on Xinput – xbox360 at least).

The port also has several display options. You can use the original 4:3 presentation, stretch the game across the whole screen, or use a widescreen mode that fills the empty sides with colors matching the current table.

So far the developer has primarily tested the port on a Retroid Pocket 6 and reports that it is running well. More testing on regular Android phones is still needed, so expect some issues considering how new the project is.

The game itself is NOT included. You will need files from your own copy of Pinball Fantasies. The Android port requires the original .prg and .mod files and will ask you to select their folder when you first start it. You can easily find them on abandonware sites.

Pinball Fantasies is over three decades old, but this Android port looks like a pretty good way to play it on modern phones and handhelds.
