The Last of Us Remastered first unofficial Android build
The Last of Us Remastered has a first public Android build, with Erick Mendes releasing Daedalus Android v0.1 on November 6. It has touch controls, controller support and a launcher that prepares your own PS4 game files on the phone.
This uses the PS4 Remastered edition, not the PS3 original or The Last of Us Part I. The Android runtime is compiled for ARM64, but the game’s original x86-64 code runs through FEX CPU translation, with Vulkan rendering based on shadPS4. So, not really a native port.
What you need
You need Android 11 or later, a 64-bit ARM environment, Vulkan support and your own PS4 game dump. No game files are included.
The Android build needs the verified version 01.00 executable, with CUSA00552 as its reference. Although the release page also lists CUSA00556, the detailed documentation says regional variants need the same recognized executable. This means, don’t just go by the title name, look for the exact ID.
The launcher accepts an extracted game folder or installs a PKG, then handles preparation automatically. Leave enough storage for the extracted files and, when installing a PKG, the original package too.
There are original-resolution, 720p, 540p and 360p options, plus patches for effects such as motion blur, depth of field and shadows. The app includes bundled Turnip drivers, custom driver imports, save backup and restore, and an FPS/CPU/GPU overlay. English is among the ten interface languages.
Still kind of early in the development
Gameplay testing was done on Redmagic 10 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite and Adreno 830. Bundled drivers also cover Adreno 6xx and 7xx families. The project has not validated a complete Android playthrough. Shader compilation can cause pauses or stutterings as they compile, collision and stability problems may remain.
The Android work is based on ravencaio’s PC project, with credits to FEX, shadPS4, Mesa/Turnip and libadrenotools. The project also acknowledges runtime contributions from BilalReloaded, FelipePrado0’s SpartanPort, SuperMedo and HayatoG, plus Android groundwork from Bloodborne-Android, Daedalus GoW3 and fexdroid.
We have not tested this build ourselves. For now, it is an interesting first release for people willing to troubleshoot and have fun.
