Project Diablo 2 gets an all-in-one Android launcher
PD2 Launcher for Android brings installation, updates and controls for Project Diablo 2 into one app. Pocketward’s first public release, v0.1.0, arrived on October 12 and promises to streamline the whole process.
This is an unofficial launcher that runs the Windows game locally through FEX-Emu and Wine, rather than a native Android port. Its bundled graphics stack uses Mesa’s Zink and Turnip on supported Adreno GPUs, with experimental PanVK support for certain Mali devices. No root, PC streaming or separate Winlator installation is required.
The app downloads Blizzard’s official Diablo II and Lord of Destruction installers, uses your own CD keys and installs PD2. You can also import an existing PC installation. Touch controls, controller remapping, mouse mode and game updates are handled inside the app.
What you need
Allow around 10GB of free storage and use an ARM64 device with 4KB memory pages. Adreno 6xx, 7xx and 8xx are listed as supported, although that does not guarantee every device works.
The README says Android 11+, but the developer’s newer announcement raises the requirement to Android 13+ after finding issues. Installation can take half an hour or longer.
Pocketward builds on the work of the Project Diablo 2 team, FEX-Emu, Wine/Wine-GE, Mesa and D2GL. The launcher is not endorsed by Blizzard or the PD2 team, and we have not tested this release yet.
