Bloodborne on Android uses FEX and shadPS4 technology
Bloodborne Android is an experimental way to run the PS4 game on Snapdragon Android devices. Despite the developer calling it a port, this is not a native Android conversion of Bloodborne. It runs the original game code through CPU emulation, so yes, emulated, but not quite.
Version 0.8.4, released on October 14, fixes game installation problems, following recent improvements to performance, touch controls and save backups.
How it works
FEXCore translates Bloodborne’s x86-64 machine code into ARM64 instructions while the game runs. A renderer derived from shadPS4, through the bloodborne_pc project, translates its graphics commands and shaders to Vulkan. Native replacement libraries handle the PS4 system calls the game needs.
The Android interface, runtime and renderer run on ARM64, but the game itself still needs CPU translation, therefore this is a compatibility solution specifically adapted for Bloodborne, rather than a general PS4 emulator or a fully native Android game.
Performance comes with compromises
The developer lists the AYN Thor with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Oppo Find N5 with Snapdragon 8 Elite as tested devices. The 0.8.0 release notes report approximately 34–35 fps in Central Yharnam on the Thor, up from around 30 fps, without frame generation.
Default settings render at 752 × 424 and upscale to 1280 × 720 using FSR 3.1. Model detail is set to its lowest level, with several demanding effects disabled. Yharnam fits in your pocket, but some of its scenery has to travel light.
Optional Lossless Scaling frame generation requires a separately purchased Steam copy. It adds displayed frames, not equivalent improvements to the game’s underlying frame rate, and can introduce visual artifacts.
What you need
The installation instructions require your own (PS4) Bloodborne files with update 1.09 and the original, unmodified eboot.bin. No game files are included. The app accepts an extracted game folder or installation through its PKG installer.
Requirements include Android 9 or newer, 4 KB memory pages and Adreno graphics and lots of ram. Tests listed devices with 16 GB RAM, but that is not a confirmed minimum.
