Sky: Children of the Light Celebrates 6th Anniversary With In-Game Festivities
To mark its sixth anniversary, Sky: Children of the Light is hosting the first-ever Sky Creator Awards, a live, interactive in-game awards show honoring its global creator community. Taking place on August 15 at 6 p.m. PT, the event will be streamed from Sky’s in-game cinema, a custom venue built to host thousands of players on the same server. Developers from thatgamecompany will present awards across ten categories, including two major honors: Sky Community Award and Content of the Year Award. Winners will even have the chance to accept their trophies live and speak to the audience.
Jenova Chen, co-founder and creative director of thatgamecompany, noted that Sky has always aimed to be a creative platform. “This is our chance to honor the community that continues to inspire us every day,” he said. The ceremony follows in the footsteps of Sky’s notable virtual events like the AURORA concert and comes ahead of the premiere of the in-game animated feature Sky: The Two Embers – Part 1 on July 21.
Aviary Village Transforms for Anniversary Festivities
Starting July 7, the celebrations begin with a full transformation of Aviary Village into a festive space with areas for dancing, swimming and parading. A 24/7 cinema broadcast will feature behind-the-scenes content, developer messages, trivia, and a look back at six years of seasonal events and memorable community moments. The village will also host live meetups, performances and a complete event schedule to help players navigate the festivities leading up to the main show.
