GameNative 1.2.0 Prerelease Brings Major Performance and Power Improvements

GameNative is preparing another update. With version 1.2.0 now available as a prerelease. The update focuses on performance, power management and storage speeds.

The biggest change is automatic CPU and GPU power control for supported AYN, Retroid Pocket and Samsung devices. GameNative can now adjust system power behavior depending on the workload, reducing heat, power consumption and thermal throttling. The developers’ testing on the Retroid Pocket 6 shows particularly interesting results, with automatic tuning and FPS control reducing CPU load during GPU-heavy games.

Performance and power management

The new power management system is arguably the most important part of the update. GameNative can now tune CPU and GPU behavior to better match what a game actually needs.

Expect lower temperatures and power consumption without necessarily sacrificing performance. Support has also been improved for the Odin 3 and added for the Retroid Pocket Nova, with updated system metrics and a revised interface.

External storage is another major focus. GameNative now loads games from external storage significantly faster and also includes download performance optimizations. Installing GOG and Epic games directly to external storage has been fixed as well.

Steam and game management improvements

The update adds an in-app community configuration browser, allowing you to browse and apply known configurations without much hustle. A new Favorites tab has also been added for keeping frequently played games within reach.

For users running Bionic Steam, Steam Overlay invitations can now be used to invite other users to games. The update also fixes several Steam related issues including local save handling and game time tracking.

Other notable changes

  • Improved Lossless Scaling Frame Generation integration, including fixes for freezes and reduced storage usage.
  • Fixed LSFG frame capping on Snapdragon 8 Elite and other devices.
  • Added support for Retroid Pocket Nova.
  • Improved power controls and system metrics for Odin 3.
  • Added 960p screen-size support and automatic screen-size detection.
  • Fixed games requiring EOSOverlay such as FNAF Into the Pit.

  • Fixed lost local saves.
  • Fixed FPS limiting for non-DirectX games such as Balatro and Brotato.
  • Fixed touch D-pad remapping and several mouse-input issues.
  • Added a configurable radial control menu.
  • Improved Nexus Mods integration and personalized recommendations.
  • Reduced the frequency of membership popups.

GameNative 1.2.0 is still a prerelease, so some of these features are subject to change before the final build. The developers are also teasing additional compatibility and performance improvements for future releases.

You can get the latest client from GitHub, or our mirror. There is no mention when the official 1.2 version will be available for download.
