Carmageddon Android Port 0.9.2 brings music, mirrors and cheats

Our Carmageddon Android Port 0.9.2 is now available with working music playback, a restored cockpit mirror, easier installation and optional cheats.

This is our unofficial native ARM64 Android project, built on Dethrace and mgrz18’s Android port. Those projects provide the engine and Android foundations. AI disclosure available on GitHub.

Even more destruction

Importing game files should be simpler. The launcher now finds DATA and MUSIC folders inside wrapped ZIP archives and merges matching GOG support files automatically.

It can also extract compatible standalone GOG Inno Setup EXE installers through a native reader, without running Windows code. Compatibility is still limited: multipart BIN and RAR installers are unsupported, and the specific setup_carmageddon_2.0.0.63.exe installer remains untested.

You still need your own compatible PC game files. Nothing from the commercial game is bundled.

Music playback now supports OGG, MP3, FLAC and WAV files, with volume and app lifecycle handling

Cheats, languages and a costly mirror

The launcher adds optional invulnerability, free repairs and a frozen race timer. Everything defaults to off. These helpers work during single player races in Carmageddon and Splat Pack, while progress and rewards continue to save.

English remains the default language, with Spanish, Italian and French selectable in the launcher. These are partial translations. Original voices, videos and some artwork and text remain unchanged.

The cockpit rearview mirror also returns, but there is a catch: cockpit view can cause a substantial FPS drop. The mirror introduces additional rendering work, although its exact contribution has not yet been measured. There are no mirror quality or disable options in this version, so use the external camera if performance suffers.

Updating to 0.9.2

Install the ARM64 APK over version 0.9 or 0.9.1 without uninstalling or clearing storage to preserve your imported data, saves and controls. Requirements remain Android 7.0 or newer, a 64 bit ARM Android installation and OpenGL ES 3.0.

This is still a prerelease, with device and translation testing ongoing. If you try it, include your device, Android version and camera view when reporting problems.
