ARMSX2 2.6.5 Released, Improves Input Latency and Vulkan
ARMSX2 continues to develop rapidly and latest version 2.6.5, arrives just days after a string of feature-packed updates. If you’ve been following the project, you’ll know it’s on of the fastest moving PS 2 emulators on Android, with almost every release bringing meaningful improvements.
This latest update focuses on reducing latency, improving graphics defaults and QoL updates. Combined with the additions introduced in versions 2.6.4 through 2.6.4.9, ARMSX2 has gained an impressive list of new features in less than a week.
What’s New in ARMSX2 2.6.5
The headline feature is a smarter graphics configuration for Snapdragon devices. Phones and handhelds using Adreno GPUs now automatically use the Vulkan renderer (if rendered is left on Auto), giving better performance on most supported hardware without requiring manual configuration.
Low Latency frame pacing mode becomes the default on compatible devices. Existing installations are automatically migrated to the new mode, while lower end devices continue using the previous queued frame pacing system.
The developers have also introduced an experimental ADPF CPU Clock Hint option. While disabled by default, it may improve performance on devices that are limited by CPU speed rather than GPU power.
Pop-up windows now have opening and closing sound effects (for better or worse), controller navigation sounds have been refreshed and the RetroAchievements client has been updated to ensure Hardcore Mode continues working once newer minimum client requirements are enforced. The update also includes GameDB fixes for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, correcting several visual effects.

What Changed Over the Last Few Releases?
If you’ve skipped the previous updates, ARMSX2 has quietly added a long list of useful features over the past several versions.
Version 2.6.4 introduced improved texture pack handling to reduce stutter and memory issues, restored OpenGL (ANGLE) support for Mali GPUs, added downloadable community controller skins, Material You themes, Joy-Con support, play time statistics, custom accent colors and several game compatibility fixes.
Version 2.6.4.9 focused on personalization by introducing animated XMB-style background color customization with preset themes, RGB sliders and an automatic RGB cycling mode. It also refined controller navigation, improved menu sounds and expanded compatibility with additional Android handhelds and controllers.
Taken together, these releases make ARMSX2 feel more polished than it did only a week ago. Performance is improving, the interface is becoming more customizable and controller support keeps expanding. It’s refreshing to see an emulator evolve this quickly.
