X360 Mobile 0.6.1 Update – Better Vulkan Handling
X360 Mobile has received version 0.6.1, just a week after the major 0.6.0 release. This update is focused less on new features and more on compatibility and stability.
The biggest addition is a new recommended settings system that can automatically suggest configurations for specific titles. The initial profiles include Assassin’s Creed and Grand Theft Auto IV. The former recommends strict occlusion queries to address missing or flickering geometry while GTA IV can use the system memory rendering path with compatible Turnip drivers for improved stability.
What’s new
- Added a secure online catalog for Title ID-specific recommended game settings.
- Recommendations are matched locally without uploading your game library or Title IDs.
- Added the option to manually check recommended settings from a game’s settings menu.
- Custom configurations are preserved unless you choose to replace them.
- Added a safer way to restore previous settings after applying a recommendation.
- Fixed an Android file-access bug that could cause files opened for reading and writing to become write-only, addressing one known cause of Dirty Disc errors.
- Improved handling of repeated offline XHTTP requests from games that continuously poll unavailable Xbox network services.
- Fixed a Vulkan synchronization issue affecting consecutive texture uploads.
- Improved Vulkan extension discovery and Vulkan 1.3 feature initialization.
- Added the per-game
vulkan_rendering_pathoption withauto, sysmemandgmemmodes. - Turnip options are now normalized to prevent conflicting GMEM and system-memory settings.
- Improved the update system by validating APK identity, version, channel, file size and SHA-256 before publishing updates.
There is also a small but useful post-release fix for the update dialog. On some handhelds, long release notes could push the update buttons off-screen. The notes can now scroll independently while the action buttons remain visible, with the buttons also stacking vertically on narrow displays. This was released as an updated 0.6.1 APK without creating another version number.
X360 Mobile is an ARM64 Android build using the emu.x360mobile.com package and can be installed directly over version 0.6.0. The project remains experimental and compatibility continues to vary considerably between games, GPUs and drivers.
