The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai unofficial native Android port

The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai has an unofficial Android port through DishSoap, with version 1.0 now available. Another Xbox 360 game has found its way into a much smaller home.

According to the project’s documentation, the port adapts the original game’s .NET/XNA code to MonoGame and compiles it ahead of time for ARM64 Android devices. It runs natively, without emulating the Xbox 360’s PowerPC processor.

The developer lists full single player support, widescreen rendering, autosaves and Bluetooth or USB controllers. An optional touch controller includes an editable layout, although a physical gamepad is recommended. LAN co-op between two phones is also listed as working.

Bring your own dishes

The v1.0 download is an approximately 9 MB APK. The stated requirements are Android 5.0 or newer and an ARM64 device.

You will also need your own legitimate copy of the game. On first launch, the importer accepts a ZIP containing the original XBLA package, a ZIP of extracted game files, or an extracted folder. Textures, fonts and audio are processed directly on the device.

There are a few catches. Missing optional files can leave content such as audio absent, while missing essential boot files will stop the import. Long music tracks may briefly hitch when first decoded, and uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes saves.

DishSoap is a fan project with no affiliation to Ska Studios or Microsoft. The release is available now, with its features and limitations documented by the developer.
