StarCraft gets remastered graphics on Android
open1161HD brings StarCraft and Brood War to Android featuring classic graphics and Remastered assets. Developer nikoltu describes the project as largely finished, with campaigns, custom matches and local multiplayer available. The downloadable build is v1.0.22 hotfix 1.
This is a native Android adaptation of OpenBW, an open source recreation of the Brood War engine. It uses the classic 1.16.1 simulation with a new Android interface and HD layer. It does not run Blizzard’s Windows Remastered client through an emulator or Winlator.
What you get
The launcher, game interface and HUD have been redesigned for touch. The README describes a tablet-focused layout with pinch zoom, S-Pen support and interface themes for each race. Optional graphics effects include sharpening, bloom, colour grading and shadows.
According to the develope, all campaigns and briefings are supported, with most tested manually. The project also lists saves, cinematics, custom battles, team matches and local multiplayer. LAN support should not be confused with access to Blizzard’s Battle.net matchmaking.
There is a built-in opponent AI with four difficulty levels, while the announcement also mentions custom bots and mods. Classic and Remastered replays are supported through a player with timeline and speed controls.

And your game data
No game assets are included. The setup documentation lists classic 1.16.1 MPQ archives for SD play and Remastered CASC data for the HD graphics, portraits and cinematics. These are imported through the launcher from your own copies. The app is for Android 7.0 or newer and includes ARM64 and x86-64 builds, with no 32-bit ARM support.
The author credits the OpenBW and BWAPI teams and openly states that much of the coding was completed with AI assistance. The repository also acknowledges SDL, Asio, stb and libsmacker. This is an unofficial community project with no Blizzard affiliation.
