DukePS3 1.0.0: First Release on Android

DukePS3 1.0.0 is out, brings yet another option for PS3 emulation on Android. Released on October 8, it builds on PS3Native and the original RPCS3 Android port, using RPCS3’s emulation core.

The headline feature is a choice of two frame generation engines. DIS is built in and free, while LSFG requires your own licensed copy of Lossless Scaling and a compatible Lossless.dll. Neither the proprietary DLL nor its shaders comes bundled.

Frame generation can make motion look smoother, but it adds GPU work and latency. It does not make the emulated game run faster. DukePS3 separates game FPS from output FPS in its performance overlay, for your convenience.

The release announcement also highlights faster initial PPU preparation, reusable compilation caches, graphics fixes and reduced audio artifacts on a Dimensity 8300 test device. These are project-reported improvements, with results depending on the game, hardware and cache state.

Before installing

The stated requirements are Android 12 or newer, compatible ARM64 CPU features and a Vulkan driver. Games and PS3 firmware are not included.

Existing PS3Native users should keep their old installation for now. DukePS3 installs as a separate app, and saves, firmware, caches and private settings do not transfer automatically.

The project still lists compatibility testing, remaining MediaTek audio artifacts and unverified netplay among its outstanding work.
