ARMSX3 1.0.6.1 adds Turnip controls as new Adreno drivers arrive

ARMSX3 1.0.6.1 adds new Turnip settings for Android PS3 emulation, while Turnip Gen8 V37 and v26.3.0-R6 driver updates add different Adreno GPU generations. Two separate releases, but useful together if you are tweaking graphics on a Snapdragon device.

New features in ARMSX3

With a custom driver installed, ARMSX3’s GPU Driver section now includes a UBWC flag hint switch. According to the developer, it can fix rendering glitches seen with some recent Turnip builds on certain Adreno GPUs. Worth trying if your game has graphical corruption for example, though the release does not list specific affected games or GPU models.

There is also a Driver variables field for custom Turnip settings. It accepts variables beginning with FD_, TU_, IR3_ and MESA_, with one NAME=value entry per line. This gives more technical users a place to apply driver options directly inside the emulator.

Both settings take effect the next time you start a game. Change the setting, then relaunch the game!

V37 or R6? Check your GPU

The new Turnip release contains two branches:

  • Gen8 V37 targets Adreno 840, 830, 829, 825 and 810. It combines the Gen8 development branch with upstream Mesa changes. A patched V37 variant also incorporates WinNative patches and workarounds.
  • v26.3.0-R6 targets Adreno 6xx and 7xx. The release notes highlight upstream support for Adreno 710, 722 and 720, plus a One UI tearing fix for Adreno 740 devices.

The release lists Vulkan 1.4.363. Choose the package for your GPU family rather than treating V37 and R6 as interchangeable upgrades.

For ARMSX3 users, the connection is practical: install a compatible driver, then use the new emulator controls if you need to troubleshoot its behaviour. Neither announcement promises a universal FPS boost (your game and hardware are still the key).

And this

ARMSX3 is an Android ARM64 port of the RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator. Turnip is Mesa’s open source Vulkan driver for Qualcomm Adreno GPUs. One runs the PS3 software; the other handles the Vulkan graphics work on supported hardware.
