Skylanders Battlegrounds released on Android
Nearly a year ago, Activision Publishing Inc. released Skylanders Battlegrounds on the iOS platform exclusively, accompanied by a set of miniature figurines (sold separately) that could be imported inside the game by using the included “portal of power”. The exclusivity agreement is probably over as Skylanders Battlegrounds recently appeared on the Android Play Store.
Players will guide a pair of Skylanders on the hexagonal over-world battlefield in order to complete missions and destroy ‘evil Kaos army spread across the world. The first Skylander character is accessible right from the start, while the second unlocks soon after and since you can only control only two Skylanders at the same time, it is possible to swap them on-the-fly with other creatures that you unlocked.
One of the key selling points of Skylanders Battlegrounds is the ability to buy additional miniature plastic characters that can be “beamed” inside the game by using the bundled bluetooth portal of power from the Mobile Starter Pack that also includes 3 additional characters (Jet-Vac, Cynder, and Double Trouble) and one treasure chest containing in-game rewards and items. Keep in mind that this “Mobile Starter Pack” has the “Made for iOS” logo on the packaging, so the Android version content may differ when it becomes available. Mind you, this is entirely optional and all the characters can be unlocked from inside the game.
Coins and gems are the in-game currencies that allow you to unlock additional characters, purchase various upgrades and power-ups. Both of them can be “grinded” while playing or acquired from the in-app store for real money. You can get the game for $6.99 and start beating Kaos’ evil Warlord Army right away.
