Wings of Heroes Launches PvE Mode in Latest Update
Wings of Heroes has introduced a new Player vs Environment (PvE) mode called Total Defence, expanding the strategic possibilities of its World War II air combat gameplay. Released on June 30, 2025, this co-op mode lets players team up with two wingmen to defend ground targets from waves of incoming enemies.
Across up to ten escalating waves, players face fast-moving fighters, bombers and tougher boss planes. Victory depends on smart positioning, quick threat assessment and the ability to prioritize defense points while managing limited resources. The addition of cooperative tactics sets this mode apart from the game’s existing options like 3v3 Dogfights, 5v5 battles, Domination and Annihilation.
Foundations for Future Content
According to the development team, the PvE mode also serves as groundwork for future updates. Plans include mission-based gameplay, friend-based co-op and more complex objectives. By adding these systems now, Wings of Heroes is preparing for more structured and long-term features.
Alongside the new mode, several core systems have been refined. The League system has been updated to let players retain ranks between seasons, which helps maintain progress. Battle Pass rewards have been adjusted as well, responding to player feedback.
A new Plane Mastery feature encourages pilots to specialize in specific aircraft. As players complete objectives with individual planes, they unlock milestones and gain access to a unique Master Livery, a visual mark of dedication and experience.
With this update, Wings of Heroes continues to expand both its tactical scope and long-term progression, offering players more ways to engage and develop their skills.
