Starship Warbeasts Brings Card Strategy and JRPG Combat

Deploy Starship has announced its debut title Starship Warbeasts, a free-to-play multiplayer card game coming to PC, Android and iOS. The game blends traditional collectible card gameplay with turn-based JRPG-inspired combat, where players build teams of five Warbeasts and face off in strategic battles.

While the deck-building side will feel familiar to fans of Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering, the real-time combat shifts into a more dynamic system, where skills, items and level-ups influence each match. The game launches with a massive pool of team options, over 75 million Warbeast combinations are possible from day one.

A Sci-Fi Universe With Depth and Strategy

Matches aren’t only about deck strength. Warbeasts can be leveled up during combat using level-up cards, gaining new abilities mid-battle. Players will also use spells and items to shape the battlefield in real-time. According to the studio, the goal is to reward preparation and smart plays equally, making sure skill matters as much as strategy.

The story will unfold gradually through events and future content updates, potentially including a campaign. Warbeasts hail from at least ten different planets and the setting will explore wars over resources, alien threats and larger galactic conflicts. Expect colorful characters and big sci-fi energy inspired by classic space adventure series.

Founder Matthew Albright describes the vision: “I want Starship Warbeasts to have a feeling of high-action cartoons. Cool and fun.”

The full release is expected in 2026. A demo and both public and private playtests are planned ahead of launch.
