Sonic CD Classic

Great news for the classic Sonic fans. As the latest addition to their “Sega Forever” project, Sega released Sonic CD Classic on the Play Store. After 25 years of the original release in Japan, gamers can now take this classic gem in their pockets and enjoy the HD port on the go.

Sonic CD Classic

To be perfectly clear, Sonic CD was already released on Android back in 2011. It was later removed as there were bugs in the code, preventing customers to download the game data. Now, with Sonic CD Classic re-release, we get a full support on all modern Android Devices and native HID controller support. As with all other “Sega Forever” games, there is only one in-app purchase to remove the ads (1.99$). If you don’t mind the ads however, you can play the game as much as you want for free.

The Original Sonic CD

Originally released in 1993 for the Sega CD add-on for the Genesis video game console, Sonic CD enjoyed critical acclaim. The original game sold over 1.5 million copies and was considered to be the best game from the Sonic franchise and even one of the greatest video games of all time. Guided by that initial success, SEGA decided to port the game on many different platforms, including PC, consoles and mobile devices.

To finish the game, players must collect all seven stones by time traveling between past, present and future versions of each level. Once every stone is collected Dr. Eggman will have to be defeated in order to save Amy Rose.
