Table Top Racing released earlier than expected

The developers from the independent studio “Playrise Digital” announced that Table Top Racing, the game that was included in iTune’s ‘Best of 2013’ festive app selection in multiple countries and won the TIGA 2013 award of best start-up, is finally ready to be downloaded from the Play Store for free.

Table Top Racing is a fast miniaturized combat-racing game from the Micro Machines and Mario Kart canon. Players can chose among 17 upgradable cars, 8 detailed tracks, couple of different play modes and multiple special events that can be 3-stared for extra coins and points. At first, you only get access to one car (ice-cream truck actually) and winning the championships will unlock 4 additional models. To get the rest, you will have to save your coins and 3-star as many events as you can.

There are 9 power-ups that can be gathered while driving (the ? crates) and except the turbo power-up, they all do nasty things to your opponents. Some game modes, however, can impose certain restrictions or deny using the power-ups altogether, in which case you have to rely on your driving skills and all the upgrades you previously purchased in the garage. The amount of coins awarded after each race will be determined by your performance on the track and the amount of stars you gather.

Additional coins can be purchased from the in-game store and any transaction will remove the pop-up ads appearing now and then while navigating through the menus. Table Top Racing fully supports Google’s game services, providing 28 achievements, 18 leaderboards and the cloud-save options. The developers who coded the game engine did a tremendous job. Not only does it look good, but runs smooth as butter on most devices running Android 4.0 or later (yes, even single core phones from the last couple of years). The touchscreen optimized controls are nice as well, but the accelerometer assisted steering felt a bit too sensitive. Finally, one of the best features iOS users enjoy, the multiplayer mode, is unfortunately missing from our version and the exact date when will it be implemented (it will, devs promised) remains unknown. For now, enjoy beating the AI and start collecting coins for upgrades, unlock all the cars and have fun.
